WET supports the Kaunertal Declaration 2022 with its 5-point demand for the protection of alpine rivers, for a nature-friendly energy system transformation and with a clear rejection of the expansion plans of the Kaunertal power plant.
The declaration was initiated by WWF Austria and is supported by a total of 30 organizations and 10 scientists. The Kaunertal Declaration demands a fundamental rethinking from Tyrolean politics – away from one-sided hydropower utilization and towards the protection of important ecosystems and alpine landscape, as well as a comprehensive energy saving program and the advance of photovoltaic.
